The Industrial Relations Code, 2020 was introduced in Lok Sabha on 19th September, 2020.

The Industrial Relations Code has raised the threshold for requirement of a standing order, rules of conduct for workmen employed in industrial establishments to over 300 workers. The Government has allowed companies with up to 300 workers to fire workers or shut plants without the prior approval of the Government.

The Industrial Relation Code lays down new conditions on the right of workers to go on strike. Unions will now have to give 60 days’ strike notice.
