The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has found Jaiprakash Associates Ltd. (JAL) to be in contravention of the Competition Act, 2002, for abuse of dominant position in the market of independent residential units like villas, estate homes, etc, in its integrated townships.

CCI has imposed a penalty of nearly Rs. 14 Core on JAL. The penalty was calculated @ 5% of the average revenue of JAL from sale of independent residential units in the relevant market.

The final order was passed on a complaint filed by a buyer who had booked a villa at Jaypee Greens in Greater Noida in 2011.
