The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has issued a clarification on Goods and Services Tax (GST) on Hand Sanitizers.
As per tweet of CBIC, the Ministry of Finance in an official statement said, “Sanitisers are disinfectants like soaps, antibacterial liquids, dettol etc. which all attract a duty standard rate of 18% under the GST regime.”
It is further clarified that inputs for the manufacture of hand sanitizers are chemicals packing material, input services, which also attract a GST rate of 18%. The rate is to make this industry more competitive.
