CBDT Relaxes Income Tax Norms For Cash Received By Hospitals Providing COVID Treatment

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on 7th May 2021 has issued relaxation for the purpose of Section 269 of the Income-tax Act, 1961 to the Hospitals, Dispensaries, Nursing Homes, Covid Care Centres or similar other medical facilities providing Covid treatment to patients by allowing cash payments of INR 2 lakh or more for the treatment of COVID-19 patients.

The mentioned relaxation is applicable from 01.04.2021 to 31.05.2021 on obtaining the PAN or Aadhaar of the patient and the payee and the relationship between the patient and the payee by such Hospitals or Covid Care Centres.
