The Bombay High Court has today denied bail to activists and lawyers Vernon Gonsalves, Sudha Bharadwaj, Arun Ferreira arrested in Bhima Koregaon case and for their alleged links with banned Maoist group. The Court rejected the bail pleas of all three accused.
All three accused have been booked under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and other provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) by the Pune police which has accused them of inciting caste-based violence at Koregaon Bhima in January, 2018.
The single-judge bench of Justice Sarang Kotwal was hearing the plea filed by the activists on a regular basis since 27 August.
Apart from the three activists, poet Varavara Rao and Gautam Navlakha were also arrested for their alleged involvement in the violence.
